SMC Pneumatic

Today in robotics we were introduced to the wonderful world of pee-numatics. Some representatives of SMC graciously gave their time to give us a presentation about their products and the advantages of pneumatics.

SMC set up several stations and examples of their products around the Horsepower shop, and allowed us to walk around and look at various pneumatic devices. They had various cylinders, grabbers, and other pneumatic devices, along with control panels and control surfaces. They went around and explained the different mechanics, and gave demonstrations on the different systems. We were also able to give the people of SMC a tour of our robots, and a demonstration of our most recent robot. We both learned a lot about each others worlds, and what each area entails.

Our robotics team is very fortunate to have friends like SMC in the area. Without community outreach like what SMC has done, we would not be able to learn so much about systems and mechanics. We are very thankful for SMC for giving their time to give a presentation, and we are always happy to give presentations about our robot. We learned a lot about pneumatics, and hope to work more with SMC in the future.
